The sea

The water along the Kemer coast is clear and turquoise, and the beaches are mostly pebble. In high summer the sea reaches about 27 °C.

Several beaches along the Kemer coast fly the Blue Flag, an international award given each season to beaches that meet standards for water quality, safety and environmental management. The nearest beaches are a short walk from the villas.

Antalya

Antalya, the provincial capital, is about 45 minutes away by car. Its walled old town, Kaleiçi, has narrow Ottoman-era streets running down to the old harbour, entered through Hadrian's Gate, a Roman gate built in the year 130.

The city also has the Antalya Museum, a large archaeological museum, and the Düden waterfalls. Antalya Airport is about 56 km from the villas.

Places to visit nearby

Distances are approximate, by road from Kemer.

Phaselis

about 16 km

The ruins of an ancient Lycian port city, with its old harbours and a paved main street, set among pine trees at the water's edge. There are sheltered coves for swimming beside the ruins.

Tahtalı Mountain and the Olympos cable car

about 20–25 km

A cable car from near Tekirova climbs about 4.4 km to the 2,365 m summit of Tahtalı, with a wide view over the coast and the Taurus mountains. It is noticeably cooler at the top.

Göynük Canyon

about 13 km

A limestone gorge in the Beydağları Coastal National Park, with a river running through it and a trail into the narrow parts. A good half-day trip on a hot day.

Beldibi and Tekirova

about 5 km and 20 km

Two coastal villages within the Kemer district, to the north and to the south, with more pebble beaches and small bays along the coast road.

Olympos, Çıralı and the Chimaera flames

about 55 km

The ruins of ancient Olympos lie in a green river valley that runs down to the beach at Çıralı. Above Çıralı, natural gas escaping from the rock at Yanartaş burns in small flames that never go out, best seen in the evening.

Aspendos and Perge

about 60–90 km

Further east, beyond Antalya. The Roman theatre at Aspendos is one of the best-preserved ancient theatres anywhere; Perge has a large excavated city with a stadium and colonnaded streets.

Walkers can also follow parts of the Lycian Way, a marked long-distance trail of about 760 km that runs along this coast and passes close to Kemer.
